2014 Foundation Fellow Award winners announced

Marilyn and Larry McMullen's dedication and support are recognized

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 20, 2014) — Established in 1988 during the silver anniversary of Saint Luke’s Foundation, the Foundation Fellow award recognizes outstanding service and support of medical education, research, and hospital programs. This year, we are pleased to honor Marilyn and Larry McMullen with this prestigious award.

For decades, the McMullens have been dedicated supporters of Saint Luke's Hospital and Saint Luke's Home Care & Hospice. Marilyn volunteered in the hospital’s surgical waiting room for more than 30 years. She served as president of the Saint Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary, became the first woman on the hospital’s board of directors, and served on the Saint Luke’s Foundation board. She was an advocate for Saint Luke’s Hospice and served on the feasibility committee for the Saint Luke’s Hospice House. Larry followed Marilyn’s lead in volunteering for Saint Luke’s.

After losing Marilyn in 2008, Larry served on the Hospice Steering Committee and helped lead the successful campaign to raise funds for Saint Luke’s Hospice House. He now serves on the Saint Luke’s Home Care & Hospice board of directors.
