In 2018, we celebrate the 110th anniversary of the founding of Saint Luke’s Auxiliary. The 200 plus members of the Auxiliary give generous gifts of time, talent and treasure to support the patients and staff of Saint Luke’s Hospital. Last year, Auxiliary members donated over $225,000 to support a variety of programs, events and scholarships throughout the health system, and contributed over 13,000 volunteer hours. The Bi-Annual Holly Ball is the Auxiliary’s major fundraising event. We are very pleased to announce that the 2018 Holly Ball will benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Saint Luke’s Hospital.

The babies in NICU are the tiniest patients at Saint Luke’s, and some of the most vulnerable. Saint Luke’s NICU is a level III facility, with expertise in caring for the smallest of babies, some born as young as 21 weeks. An average length of stay in the NICU is hard to define, as each baby is born with individual challenges. What we do know, however, is that any time that a family is separated from their baby is difficult. Parents, siblings and grandparents face a difficult road, especially if they live out of the area. The ability to stay in contact with their child’s caregivers, and to see their baby, is integral to encouraging the most positive outcomes for these babies.

The Baby Care Link system was developed to provide a continuity of access to parents and other family members. Using this system, family members will be able to see real time changes to their child’s medical condition and care. They will have the ability to send instant messages to their baby’s caregiver, leading to more efficient communication. And, with the implementation of the Angel Eye Camera System, parents and loved ones will be able to see and hear their baby in the NICU via a closed webcam

The 2018 Holly Ball will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the InterContinental Hotel on the Country Club Plaza. Wear your festive cocktail attire, leave the tux at home, and dance the night away to the sounds of KOKOMO!
