Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapy

The SPOT provides a therapeutic environment for little ones with developmental challenges

The Children's SPOT (Speech, Physical, and Occupational Therapy) opened in 1980 and has served thousands of children with disabilities and developmental delays. We help children with speech, language, hearing, learning, or physical disabilities. The Children’s SPOT is a place where children with developmental challenges can succeed.

We provide early and intensive rehabilitative therapy to infants and preschool-aged children, because that's when research shows treatment will do the most good. Most of our young patients attend preschool four days a week for 2.5 hours a day. Our goal is to help children become independent and enjoy a high-quality life.

The Children's SPOT

  • Offers the most intensive treatment model available—most of our patients attend our preschool four days a week for 2.5 hours a day
  • Has served thousands of children since its inception in 1980
  • Accepts patients regardless of whether their families can pay

Who we serve

Each year, we serve more than 500 children with disabilities or developmental delays affecting their speech, learning, and physical abilities. These are often caused by:

  • Autism
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Down syndrome
  • Or complications from premature birth

Rehabilitation disguised as fun

The Children’s SPOT is filled with natural light, brightly colored toys and a large, indoor playground. But what looks like jungle gyms, rock-climbing walls, and trampolines are actually sensory integration equipment, designed to help children build gross motor skills and improve socialization.

Services include

Financial assistance

We believe that all children deserve the best possible start in life. So we accept patients regardless of their family's ability to pay. Funding for The Children’s SPOT comes from Saint Luke’s Hospital (a private, not-for-profit, teaching hospital), health insurance, and fundraising activities, including the annual Once Upon a Time event.
